PROJECT MATERIALS LIST

  • 2 Large Hardcover Books (an inch or so wider in breadth & length than the box you will be using, in its upright position)
  • Toner based copies of Printables - make multiples of key items!
  • DecoArt Dazzling Metallics Venetian Gold Acrylic Paint
  • Black Acrylic craft paint (Satin Finish)
  • Red Acrylic craft paint
  • Brown Acrylic craft paint
  • White Acrylic craft paint
  • Clear plastic packaging for Windows & Lenses, etc.
  • Smooth Black Cardstock 8 ½” x 11”
  • Smooth White Cardstock 8 ½” x 11” (for Printables, but not needed if using print shop)
  • Printer Paper (Program Pages, Border Trims, Rolled Paper Tubes & Posters)
  • 1 Sheet of Black Adhesive Backed Fun Foam (for cushioning the base, cushioning the Opera Glasses Cradle & creating Raised Bands on Altered Book Spines)
  • Chipboard (Cereal Box Weight, 5 or 6 boxes or more! or purchased 8 ½” x 11” sheets
  • Corrugated Cardboard - cut into rectangles that are slighty larger than the exterior dimensions of your box width and height. At least 10 panels, + 2 panels that are 5" or so taller than your box when it is standing on end
  • 1 - 30” x 20” Sheet Foam Core Board - cut into 3 sections that are slightly wider than the box you are working with, and 5" or so taller than your box when it is standing on end
  • ⅜” Flat Magnets - 1 pkg of 10
  • Wooden Skewers
  • Gold Cording or Embroidery Floss
  • 1 Salvaged costume jewelry ‘dangle’ or ‘charm’
  • 2 – 3” Wooden Candlesticks
  • 2 Small Screws: 3/16” heads x ⅜” long (Focus Ring)
  • Rubber Grommets: 4 - Outer Diameter: 1 ⅛” (Upper Opera Glasses Bridge & Eye Cups)
  • Rubber Grommets: 2 - Outer Diameter: 1 ¼” (Lower Opera Glasses Bridge)

  • Scraps of Aluminum Foil to sharpen Punches
  • Candle Stub
  • A spray bottle filled with tap water
  • A small amount of Cornstarch | Baby Powder, or similar inert powder
  • Weights: Bricks | Heavy Books | Canned Goods
  • 1” outer diameter sturdy tube, made of sturdy cardboard, or PVC Pipe, or?
    • For DIY Sanding Jig
  • Old Credit or Gift Cards for applying adhesives and smoothing surfaces
  • Soft cloths for cleaning & burnishing, etc.
  • Small amount of Baby Oil, Olive Oil, or Vegetable Oil
    • (for removing adhesives from Cigar Box and your fingers!)
  • A Magic Marker Cap, Dowel, or other firm cylinder with a diameter large enough to create impressions
  • for ⅜ ” magnets to fit within
